wow it is hot

Ok, so Austin is not the only place that is hot
but come on, it has been over a 100 degrees
for the last 2 weeks

So much for the garden this year, have been lacking the water
to let nature water, and I have been too busy to apply water myself

Our tomatoes have been hit hard
potatoes did ok this year
jalapeno's did alright

just doing my best to keep water on the lettuce bed

nothing like fresh lettuce from the garden

hopefully the weather patterns will change soon and we can get some natural water
from the sky....

Time to start thinking about a late tomato crop and new plants
winter lettuce's and maybe some squash to plant

come on rain!

too busy??

Is it possible to be too busy?

Sometimes i feel overwhelmed that there is not enough time in the day to get everything done you want.

I fell some trees this last weekend, and they are still sitting in my yard, which i had a chipper

i need to break them down so i can get them to the wood recycling to make mulch for someone,

i wish i had my land already, living in a subdivision prohibits you from doing all the right things.

Need to go camping again to get away and unwind.

Back to work, need to do some research on improving a slow SQL section of code....

Cold in Austin

Today we woke up to a cool/cold morning.

The garden has been turned and organic compost added ( home made in a compost bin)

After this week, will be seeding the lettuce garden and watering with Organic fertilizer.

I have five (5) rain water collection tanks that are full, total reserve is about 800 gallons

this water is used to water most of my garden, potted plants and other trees.

Removed a older Red Bud tree, 11 years old, picked up a surface burying beetle that caused
the tree to become ill. So it was time to remove it and plant a Mexiacan White Oak,
also known as a Monterrey Oak (http://texastreeplanting.tamu.edu/Display_Onetree.aspx?tid=86)

Better tree than the Red Bud (http://texastreeplanting.tamu.edu/Display_Onetree.aspx?tid=16) but lacks
flowers.

Might plant another Red Bud for Color.

till next time.....

What is this all about

Hello and welcome to my blog spot. This is the first attempt to document things I have tried, and pass along information I have been told about trying to "go green" and "organic" living. Sit back and relax, and read a bit, while I try to share what I have learned.
